Our Design Approach

At Hypersketch, we partnered with BackStract AI to revolutionize backend development onboarding. Our challenge was to create an interface that would allow developers to build complex backend applications through a simple, conversational flow rather than traditional configuration screens.

1. Simplify to a Single Question

We stripped away the typical multi-screen setup process and focused on one powerful question: "What do you want to build?" This conversational entry point eliminated the learning curve of navigating complex menus or understanding technical terminology before getting started.

2. Design for Conversation, Not Configuration

We designed a spacious input area that encourages descriptive prompts rather than structured commands. The interface gives users freedom to explain their needs in natural language, removing the burden of learning a specific syntax or technical framework before creating their first application.

3. Provide Smart Starting Points

To help users understand the system's capabilities, we implemented suggestion chips showing common use cases (Appointment Booking, CRM Backend, eCommerce). These examples serve as both inspiration and education, helping new users understand the range of possibilities without requiring additional documentation.

4. Build Trust Through Transparency

We anchored the interface with social proof ("Trusted by 89+ startups") to reassure new users of the platform's reliability. This subtle addition helps overcome the initial skepticism users might feel toward an AI-powered development tool.

The result was a dramatically streamlined experience that allowed users to go from sign-up to generating their first backend application in minutes rather than hours, achieving our goal of reducing onboarding time by 80%.
